Nowcast Spots Follow

Nowcast spots provide forecast information at a specific location. They are not weather stations but provide current real-time conditions with great accuracy.

Using recent observations made by surrounding weather stations and the latest computer model data, a point forecast of current weather conditions is provided where no observation data is available. The accuracy of Nowcasts can vary depending on the available data and local meteorological conditions.

Computer model forecasts can be viewed for Nowcast spot locations like any weather station.

Nowcast spots can be saved to a MyWeather favorites profile. You can save a Nowcast spot or its associated forecast tables to an active favorites profile using the star icon.

Add a custom Nowcast spot to a MyWeather favorites profile

First, click on the Forecast Map product from the More Maps menu...

Then click anywhere on the map to view a point forecast at that location. Click the star in the bottom right of the preview panel to save it to your favorites.

Before saving, you can also customize and save the spot's wind graph, forecast tables, and tide charts (if applicable). For more info on saving favorites, see Saving Favorites.

Adding a permanent Nowcast spot to our database

As the name implies, a "Nowcast" is not a weather station. The forecast data for a Nowcast spot is generated by computer model output at the specific coordinates of the location.

To request that we add a Nowcast spot to the database, click here and send us the following information:
- Name of the location
- Latitude and Longitude of the spot

(Please note that we may only sometimes add a requested Nowcast spot if there are other nearby Nowcast spots or weather stations.)
