Legacy WINDmeter User Guide Follow
Legacy (Plug-in) WINDmeter
Do you own the new Bluetooth connected WINDmeter? See the WINDmeter & WEATHERmeter User Guide instead (all Bluetooth connected meters operate the same way).
Get started by downloading the Wind & Weather Meter app
available on iOS and Android.
- Open the app and plug your WINDmeter firmly into the headphone jack.
- Hold the WINDmeter into the wind and press the start button to begin a reading. Press stop to end the reading.
- After taking a reading, you have the option to save the report or delete it. Your saved reports, whether they are public or private, will be saved to History.
After you're done using it, disconnect the Legacy WINDmeter by gently pulling from the base to remove from the auxiliary port. Store it in it's hard shell case to keep it safe.
Beyond the Basics
To change units and app settings, go to Settings from the main menu.
The gauges on the real time display can be customized to display different measured or calculated parameters. This can be done by tapping on one of the gauges and selecting a new variable. For further instructions on how to customize your real time display, see Customize Display Values.
You can share the reports on social media, text, email, etc. Publicly shared readings are called Onsite Reports. You can view observations made globally on WeatherFlow brand websites and mobile apps, like WindAlert.
WINDmeter Direction Reporting
All WINDmeter models rely on the connected mobile device's direction heading, which use location settings and GPS, as well as an onboard magnetometer and accelerometer instruments to generate an accurate compass heading. Most modern mobile devices will have built-in GPS and magnetometers.
You can test the internal compass of your mobile device by using a pre-installed compass app or by downloading a compass app. Not all mobile devices, especially aging ones, report the wind direction with pinpoint accuracy.
