Installation and Mounting Kits Follow
Be sure to read our Siting & Installation guide to help you decide the best location on your property to install your Tempest. Mounting kits are available in the Tempest Shop.
Universal Mount
The Universal Mount can be used on a wide variety of structures and vertical surfaces. The Tempest device should extend above the structure as much as possible.
The pole and mounting bracket are made of weather resistant powder coated aluminum. Mounting hardware is made of stainless steel. The kit includes the all required mounting hardware plus extra hardware in case its needed.
Customization
Two mast configurations are possible.
- Attaching the short end of the pole in the bracket will maximize installation height. This option would be useful for installations on the side of a house for higher clearance above the roofline.
- Attaching the long end of the pole in the bracket will provide greater distance from the mounting surface. This option would be useful for installations where additional height is not needed but extra clearance from a vertical surface is.
Parts List
Instructions
It is recommended to use all the included washers between the bolts on either side of the bracket. A little bit of play with the mast in the bracket is normal, as long as there is no large horizontal movement. Very strong winds will not cause the mast to rock back and forth.
Simple Installation Kit (discontinued)
Th Simple Installation Kit can be attached to any vertical structure like a fencepost, shed, the side of your house, etc. The Tempest device should extend above the structure as much as possible.
Instructions
Follow the diagram to assemble your Simple Installation kit. The PVC parts can be press-fit together. For a more secure installation, PVC glue may be used, but is not required. The kit includes six stainless steel screws suitable for attachment to sturdy wood, plastic or metal. You may need to obtain alternative hardware if the screws are not appropriate for your needs.
Customization
Feel free to make adjustments if you find that the dimensions of the Simple Installation Kit do not accommodate your installation location. You can customize the length of the pipes by cutting the included pipes or by purchasing additional PVC pipe from your local hardware store. Be sure to use schedule 40 or schedule 80 PVC pipe. Individual pipe sections should not exceed 36 inches.
