Sensor marked as "Late" or "Down" Follow

Weather station status is divided into:

• Active = sensor reported within last 90 minutes
• Late = sensor hasn't reported for over 90 minutes
• Down = sensor hasn't reported for over 4 hours

Active sensors will be either yellow in color (if a WeatherFlow Networks sensor), green in color (if a Tempest Weather System), or white in color (if a non-WeatherFlow sensor). Late sensors appear gray in color. Sensors flagged as Down appear as an "x" on the map. If a station has been dubbed as Down for more than 14 days, it is removed from search results but will remain in your favorites lists, widgets, spot info page, etc.

Malfunctioning or "Down" weather stations

Weather stations are made up of mechanical parts. The anemometer has bearings that can wear out with time, especially in salty air. Meanwhile, weather stations can be subject to acts of nature, such as lightning strikes or damage by birds. Acts of man, such as an errant fishing line or vandalism, can cause a sensor to malfunction. In short, there is any number of possible causes.

Unfortunately, we are unable to influence the maintenance and upkeep, instrumentation, calibration, siting, and reporting frequency of non-WeatherFlow weather stations. However, if one of your favorite WeatherFlow weather stations is down, ask us about it, add we'll try to give you an update on the status of that station.  But please keep in mind that our small team of dedicated Sensor Maintenance Technicians has a heavy workload with both maintenance and new installations throughout North America and the Caribbean. We really appreciate all they do, and we equally appreciate your patience when a sensor needs servicing.
