Managing Stations & Devices Follow
Stations: Adding / Naming / Removing Devices: Adding / Removing
Station: A station is essentially a Hub (base station) with one or more connected devices (Tempest, AIR, SKY, etc). There can be multiple stations on a single account but a Hub can only be configured to one station and one account at a time.
Device: Devices i.e. Tempest, AIR, SKY, etc. are paired to a Hub and send observations over radio signals.
Adding a station
You can add multiple station locations (ex: Home, Beach House, Ski Cabin) to one WeatherFlow account and view all of them in the app. Here’s how to add a station:
- Open the Tempest Weather app and stand near the hub.
- Tap the settings icon in the lower right corner.
- Settings > stations > Tap the “+” in upper right corner to add new station > follow instructions to add new Station in a new location.
Naming a station
We suggest that you name a station with some reference to it’s location (ie. “NW Georgetown”, or “Mulberry Lane, Carmel, CA”), and name each sensor device with reference to its placement at your home (ie. “Back patio”, "Garden" or “Fence post”)
- Open the Tempest Weather app and stand near the hub.
- Make sure the hub is connected via BLE, a solid blue light will display on the back of the hub.
- Tap the settings icon in the lower right corner.
- Settings > Stations > (choose a station) > edit details as needed.
Removing a station
Please note: deleting a station is permanent. There is no way to retrieve the station or the data once deleted. (that’s why we hide the delete button!)
- Open the Tempest Weather app and stand near the hub.
- Make sure the hub is connected via BLE, a solid blue light will display on the back of the hub.
- Tap the settings icon in the lower right corner.
- Settings > Stations > swipe left on your existing Station name to reveal a "Delete" button.
Adding a device (Tempest / AIR / SKY)
A station can contain many sensor devices such as the AIR, SKY, another AIR, and a Tempest at the same location. You might place an AIR in your backyard, and another in the wine cellar.
- Open the Tempest Weather app and stand near the hub. Make sure you are logged in to the app using your username and password.
- Make sure the hub is connected via BLE, a solid blue light will display on the back of the hub.
- Tap the settings icon in the lower right corner.
- Settings > Stations > (choose a station) > Manage Devices > Tap the “+” in upper right > follow the instructions to add a new device.
- If the app does not detect your new sensor device, try opening and closing the battery door which triggers the device to broadcast a signal to connect.
Using SKY solar panel accessory: Detach the solar panel momentarily and reattach.
If the device cannot be added successfully, perform a reset on the unit...
Press and hold the LED button on the base of the unit for 5 seconds then release after the LED flashes. Proceed to add the device in the app.
Using SKY solar panel accessory: Use a thin tool to pass through the slit on the solar panel accessory and press and hold the clear LED button on the base of the unit for 5 seconds then release after the LED flashes. Proceed to add the device in the app.
See the Troubleshooting Guide for further assistance.
Removing a device (Tempest / AIR / SKY)
Please note: removing a sensor device will also remove all of its data saved on the station.
- Delete the sensor device from the app, go to Settings > Stations > (choose a station) > Manage Devices > Slide a device to the left to reveal a delete button.
- Close and relaunch the application.
Re-pairing a device (Tempest / AIR / SKY)
- To reset a device and divorce it from the Hub, press and hold the clear button near the battery door and release when the LED flashes. The LED pattern will then slowly blink green indicating it is in pairing mode, awaiting connection to a Hub.
- Using SKY solar panel accessory: Use a thin tool to pass through the slit on the solar panel accessory and press and hold the clear LED button on the base of the unit for 5 seconds then release after the LED flashes.
- You can choose to delete the sensor device and its data from the station - in the app, go to Settings > Stations > (choose a station) > Manage Devices > slide device left to reveal a delete button.
Replacing a device with a new device (Tempest / AIR / SKY)
If you are replacing a device with the same device type, you can also use the 'Replace Device' button in the app; this method will swap the new device in the old device's place, preserving the data history.
Open the app and go to settings > stations > choose your station > manage devices > select the device you are replacing > advanced > replace device > follow the steps in the app.
